Eastminster Day School Program Information

Eastminster Day School, a ministry of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, serves children six weeks of age through age four years. Children can attend the school either in a part-time or full-time capacity.  In addition, an Afterschool Program for School-aged Children is available for parents who need care for their child between the time school closes and when they get off work.  A Summer Program is also available for children enrolled on a part-time basis during the school year.   This summer program also is available to school-aged children up to fifth grade who need care during the summer months.

Eastminster Day School has entered into a collaborative agreement with Richland County First Steps to participate in the Excellence in Care and Early Learning Program. The focus of the Richland County First steps organization is “preparing children to be ready for school.  Studies show that high quality child care has a dramatic impact on a child’s ability to enter school ready to succeed.  The Excellence in Care and Early Learning Program is designed to assist child care centers in Richland County with raising their quality in order to have a positive impact on each child’s school readiness.”  Through this program, a Technical Assistance Provider visits selected classrooms weekly to teach, mentor and coach teachers, supporting their understanding and implementation of new practices.  The Technical Assistance Provider also meets with the director to ensure understanding and commitment to the changes being implemented.  This partnership is extremely beneficial in supporting teachers as they learn new methods and practices that improve the quality of Eastminster Day School.

Nursery, Toddler, and Twos spaces are available either two days per week (Tuesday-Thursday) or three days per week (Monday-Wednesday-Friday) from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Threes and Fours spaces are available five days per week (Monday through Friday) from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Full-Time Program

The Full-Time program is available to children of all ages:  Nursery through Four.  The hours for the full-time program are 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.  Parents may choose an extended care option from 7:30 – 9:00, if needing to bring their child early.

During the morning hours, unit themes are followed on a weekly and monthly basis with developmentally appropriate activities. The afternoons include time for lunch, rest and less structured activities. For an additional cost, parents may choose to enroll their child in extracurricular classes, such as Karate, Tennis, A.C.T., Science and Gymboree, which are offered privately at our school during the afternoons.

Afterschool Program for School-aged Children

An Afterschool Program for School-aged Children is available for elementary school-aged children up to fifth grade.  Currently, an Eastminster bus picks children up from Brennen Elementary, Satchel Ford A. C. Moore, Rosewood, Meadowfield Elementary and Bradley Elementary and brings them to Eastminster for afternoon care.  The children receive snack, work on homework, have devotional time and are involved in a variety of activities.  The program closes at 5:30.

Summer Program

Parents may enroll their part-time toddler through five year old children and school-aged children in the summer program.  Summer hours are 8:00-5:30 for full-time children and 9:00-12:00 for part-time children.  Extended care starting at 7:30 is also available.  Children are involved in instructional activities as well as field trips and other engaging activities.

Dual Calendars

To accommodate the varying needs for child care, two calendar options are available to parents.  Calendar A is available for full-time and part-time children.  It is aligned with the Holiday Schedule of Richland School District One.  This calendar allow parents, who do not want to send their children to the Day School during Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, to pay a different tuition rate than those full-time children needing the Day School during the holidays. Calendar B is available for full-time children only.  It includes additional days to assist working parents who need care for their children during the holidays.  Tuition rates are based on the calendar selection.
