Kitchen Ministry

Fellowship at Eastminster is often paired with good food, whether a church-wide event, or for specific gatherings smaller in scale, the Kitchen Ministry has been a true blessing to this Body of Christ. This ministry greatly assists Regina Jeffcoat, Dir. of Food Service, who works very closely with this team, preparing meals and serving strategies to feed the masses quickly and efficiently. Our Kitchen Ministry hosts multiple church-wide receptions and congregational luncheons in Thompson Hall, the CLC and at Easter there is fellowship time in the courtyard. Another event the Kitchen Ministry supports is Eastminster's Sportsmen's Banquet (AKA WILD GAME Night.) Some celebrations are supported exclusively by the generous hands and feet of our Kitchen Ministry, where others are staffed by volunteer grill masters.

With the meals, follow the tables which are often decorated by talented members who serve on the Decorating Committee - (CLICK HERE to download a Decorating Request Form.)  Elegant ambiance during our Small Groups Kick-Off Dinner, e.g., is created through centerpieces and candlelight, which illuminate Thompson Hall...We are fortunate to have such gifted, creative volunteers when it comes to these special meals and selecting the appropriate decor, formal or festive.  Hard work setting-up, serving and cleaning-up is also a major contribution accomplished by this ministry.

Wednesday night dinners, fondly known as [email protected] meals, are more casual for those coming from school or work and heading to choir practice or an evening class. These begin in the fall and continue through the spring. There are about ten to twelve meals per semester. Members of the Kitchen Ministry are faithfully present each week, smiling and serving.  Katie Evatt, one of our volunteer leaders, helps during the school-year to guide and assist others, who may be new to the ministry. Other events that the Kitchen Ministry supports are congregational lunches following worship. There is usually a luncheon on Service Commitment Sunday each fall, and a few more during the year.

It is a substantial commitment that these men and women make, and we are so blessed to receive the benefit of their labors.
