PEACE Service

The Peace Service is a service of healing and wholeness that happens on the second Sunday of every other month, at 4 p.m., in the Adult Reception Hall. This service is led by Rev. Dr. Lynn Grandsire, pastor of Congregational Care & Concern.

While attending the Peace Service, we get a sense of the presence of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives.  Time seems to disappear, and the world is not at the forefront of our minds.  It is a time to worship and hear from God in an intimate and quiet way.  This service is usually a small group of 20 to 30 people in attendance in a warm, intimate setting.  We have a short message, celebrate communion and then have a time of prayer.  During prayer time, people may stay in their seats and quietly pray, or they may come to the side of the worship space and be prayed for by a pastor and elders of the church.  The service is quiet and reflective in nature.  It allows space for us to be quiet before the Lord in order to sense the work He is doing in our lives.

The book of James has a lot to say about prayer and worship:
“Are any among you suffering?  They should pray.  Are any cheerful?  They should sing songs of praise.  Are any among you sick?  They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord.  The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up, and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven.  Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed.  The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.”  James 5:13-16

Members and friends who have attended the Peace Service had these things to say:
“It is very powerful to be prayed for.”
“The music is very moving, and helps me to reflect on God.”
“The Peace Service gives me a quiet place to reflect on my relationship with God and what is going on in my life.”
“I enjoy being able to share my prayer needs and to have them prayed for.”
“God uses the elements of the service to speak to my heart and trust Him with the things that are going on in my life.”

The months that this service occurs are the even months: February, April, June, August, October and December.
