Middle School Youth

MEET BETHANY DIXON!

Eastminster's Director of Middle School Youth!

Bethany Dixon has answered the call to lead our Middle School Youth! Dr. Douglass Key, Rev. Nick Demuynck, John Hill and a few others from the NED Ministry Team, helped with both the search and the selection.  In a recent staff meeting, Douglass reported, "It's 20 days until Bethany!" To say the least, everyone is very excited that she is here.

Her family lives in Delaware, where her father, Duke, is an interim pastor at Dover PC, and her mom,
 J. Lynne, is an instructional assistant at an elementary school. Her younger brother, Paul, is studying electrical engineering at York College (PA).

Bethany was most recently the Dir. of Youth Ministries at the Episcopal Church of our Saviour (Jacksonville, FL), but has worked in ministry for over seven years. Her areas of expertise are student development, volunteer management, program development, lesson planning, social media management, event planning and Small Group leading. She enjoys talking to teens about Jesus and cheering them on at games, plays, concerts, and any milestone events in support of whatever their interests are.

"Bethany's enthusiasm, energy and love for Christ are contagious," said Dr. Douglass Key. "Middle school years, as we all know, are tough enough without the addition of COVID-19. We knew we needed someone very special for this role at this time, and after lots of prayer and interviews, we've found a wonderful MS Youth Director," he continued.

"We have also been greatly blessed during our search with the addition of interim co-directors, Marya Marsh and Sims Tillirson, both members of EPC. Leading Sunday School, Wednesday night Bible Studies and Sunday night Youth Group has been a team effort."

Other MS Youth Leaders are Reese Bates, Rebekah Herring, Ashtin & Thomas Kilpatrick, Simmons & Russ Purdy and Brianne Tillirson. Sunday School Teachers are Karen & Johnny Hudgens,
Bryant McGowan and Kit Pound.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE: My Favorite Things
"I'm always up for a good board game, Marvel movie, or snack run...but, the best way to my heart is to introduce me to your dog."

ON THE HORIZON: Wedding Bells
Bethany says about next big step, "I'm engaged! My fiance, Jesse Parker, is currently getting his Master's Degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. We've been together for seven years, and we're getting married in Pottstown, PA, on July 17, 2021. He's very excited to join me in Columbia once we're married."
