March 9-April 13 will be a look at Amy-Jill Levine’s book, Witness at the Cross: A Beginner’s Guide to Holy Friday. During Lent, you are invited to experience the events of Good Friday from the perspective of those who watched Jesus die. The always thought-provoking Amy-Jill Levine never fails to challenge the things we thought we knew, while introducing us to new insights that open our minds to deeper appreciation and devotion to the gospel story.
This study does not disappoint on either count. Like a well-cut gemstone, each Sunday evening, from March 9 until Palm Sunday, we will turn the Good Friday narrative ever so slightly, until it catches the light in a new and unexpected way. In the process, we will grow in biblical understanding and awe at the richness of the gospel narrative.
