God Sightings All Around Us

Scripture:  (Connor– here are a few suggestions from which you can choose….)

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” – James 4:8

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:13

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” – Matthew 18:20

During my summer internship at Eastminster, it was amazing to have the opportunity to learn so much from different ministries. The E2 interns got to: fold and organize clothes, put together boxes of food at the Salvation Army, make food bags and organize the warehouse at The Cooperative Ministry, wash buses, paint and serve food at Transitions, and help out with many different tasks at the Jubilee Academy. It was hard not to spot a “God Sighting” while volunteering at these ministries. Whether it was the directors of the ministry or one of their clients, you can always see the appreciation and thankfulness in their expressions toward volunteering.

One of the most meaningful parts of the summer was Middle School COMPASS missions week. Instead of having my parents force me to show up, I was excited to be one of the leaders for the week. At the end of each exhausting day, a small group of campers and I had a discussion about what we did that day and about the devotion. For some wild and loud middle schoolers, we had some pretty in-depth conversations about various topics, including what it means to serve and where we see God in our lives.

Middle School COMPASS and my internship as a whole showed me that God is present everywhere and in everyone, no matter how small or young.

Prayer: Lord, I’m thankful for this past summer, as I was able to grow my faith more than I ever have, I’m thankful that I was able to do this internship with four of my best friends, and I’m thankful for all of the elders and staff who gave their time to us to help us learn and grow at Eastminster. Amen.
