HOPE
Posted in Hope
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not
to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
How many times during the day do you hear or use the word “hope”? Many of us use the word “hope” just like we use the word “wish.” I hope (wish) it rains. I hope (wish) I don’t have to wait long at the dentist. I hope (wish) the plumbing repairs are reasonable. What does it really mean to hope or have hope? The word “hope” is mentioned 129 times in 121 verses of the Bible. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to put all our hope in him! Hope is not a wish, it is a way.
One of my favorite songs is titled My Hope Is In You* by Aaron Shust. The refrain reads:
“My hope is in You, Lord , All the day long.
I won’t be shaken by drought or storm.
A peace that passes understanding is my song,
and I sing my hope is in You, Lord.”
Dear Lord, please keep us ever mindful that you are our hope and our way. Help us to put all of our hope in you, Lord! Amen.
