Unfailing Faithfulness
Posted in Fear/Anxiety
Scripture: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” – Lamentations 3:22-24 (ESV)
One of the most comforting assurances in our lives is the unchanging, steadfast nature of God’s mercy, grace, and love. Each day brings with it its new joys, sorrows and challenges, and we tend to worry what tomorrow will bring. This has been particularly true over the last two years with the trials and changes in our world.
Yet, God is bigger than our anxiety, our worries, our lack, and the uncertainty of life. Perhaps for this reason, I have found myself clinging to this promise as I go throughout my day and minister the hope of our Lord’s love, grace, and salvation to those who are so hungry to know Him.
He has reminded me over and over again that, on my own, I cannot lead others to Jesus, change the circumstances of my life, or worry my way to a better outcome. He alone is the “Bread of Life” and my “Living Water.” He alone can meet me in my need each and every day; for he is always and forever loving and faithful beyond even what I could ask or think. He is a Father who delights to give all things good to his children, and he desires more than anything that they know his love. Experiencing this in my life compels me to not only thank him, but also to share with many the great faithfulness of God.
May I remember and may I tell others that,”Great is Thy faithfulness…. All I have needed Thy hands have provided…. Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!”*
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that you are indeed unchanging and steadfast. I know at times, it is so easy to forget that and dwell on the worries, uncertainties, and challenges of life. Instead, please help me to remember that you desire to show me your faithfulness, goodness, and love… that you are my portion each and every day. As you were so faithful to so many in the past, you will continue to be the same today and tomorrow. Please help me to remember as well, that as you are faithful to me, I must be faithful to tell others what you have done. I must be faithful to lead them to the one who can provide for all their needs and bring to them hope, peace, and healing. Amen.
