Wholly Yours

Posted in

Scripture: “Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.” – Mark 8:25 (NIV)

I open my eyes to see the whole world you, Lord, have made: floral greens, sky blues, muted grays, sandy whites, landscapes painted in brilliant flowers, swaying trees, mighty mountains, and vast oceans. I am awed.

I open my ears to hear a thousand creation songs – fluttering wings among rustling leaves and whispering wind. From the lusty cry of life’s first breath to the final hush of a stilled heart, sound is my companion throughout all my days. You sing over me.

“He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed” (Isaiah 50:4).

I open my lips to praise you, a ministry of words, and then you patiently guide me to an offering: healing expressions of care, tender proclamations of love, Spirit-filled verses of comfort for my fellow travelers.

“Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise” (Psalm 51:15).

I open my heart because you have opened yours, and I long to be near you: to receive your unending love, to live out the truth of your promises, to participate in your plan for the world. I am wholly yours, Lord.

Prayer: This is all of me, Lord; the me that you have wondrously made. At my best, I can be a misty reflection of your glory, and though sinful, I will strive this very day to use the gifts you’ve given me for the purposes you’ve established. Because, Lord, I am wholly yours. Amen.
